Busy day for Monroe Fire Department at Fall Fire School
Fire Chief Joe Benkett described a busy day as Monroe firefighters attended a Fall Fire School at the Fairgrounds and answered two calls. A bus on the 25th Avenue loop had a heated front brake, generating an alarm that brought the crew to the fairgrounds. Firemen were ferried back to Brookfield by a second bus, narrowly avoiding delays at the main gate as Terry West was briefly knocked from a truck but sustained only bruises and recovery at St. Clare Hospital. A late-night fire damaged an air conditioner unit behind Bauman's Ace Ware, causing substantial damage to the unit.
