County board releases official results from the recent election with minor changes from unofficial returns. Democratic gains appear in several offices while Republicans show small adjustments. Committeemen for both parties are listed and organizational meetings are urged.
Robert W. Heisler of Dubuque received one to two years in the state reformatories for operating an automobile without the owner's consent after driving off with a car in front of a restaurant near Prairie du Chien. An infant slept in the back seat during the 15 hour disappearance.
The Associated Press reports New York hosts 21 congressional races as incumbents fight to halt a midwestern trend, with governor and U S senate nominees to be decided next month. Dewey exerts influence in three hot races while Utah voters choose a runoff for the Senate nomination between Watkins and Baker to challenge incumbent Abe Murdock.
Miss Marlys Richert announces Green County 4-H club entries won four blue ribbons and eight other awards in the clothing division at the junior state fair. First place awards went to Marian and Marlene Busjahn and Ruth Feldt with multiple second and third places across dress, blouse, skirt, slacks, and play suit events.
Peiping reports the Chinese Nationalist government claims Kalgan and Chengteh have been sent to relieve Tatung, a coal and rail hub 125 miles west of Peiping, after a failed attempt to halt a Communist assault. The Yenan radio warned of a full scale civil war if attacks continued. Lt. Gen. Tsai Wen-chih heads the executive truce staff at Ying.
The War Office announced Lt Gen Sir Frederick Morgan is released from UNRRA duties in Germany and returns to England amid reorganizing moves. The notice followed pressure from UNRRA director general Fiorello La Guardia over a disputed claim about Soviet use of UNRRA. Morgan’s prior remarks about Jewish exodus and wealth drew sharp Jewish organization criticism.
A 15 year old Green county boy working on a farm near Monroe pleaded guilty to stealing seven checks from a Chicago mail order firm over three weeks and cashing them in Monroe and nearby villages. He was placed on one year probation in juvenile court by Judge Harold J. Lamboley after his arrest by the sheriff's department. He also confessed stealing a little over $3 from a child's savings bank at his employer's home.
John Ziebarth of Milwaukee was elected president of the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Association at the opening of the 66th annual convention. Over 200 pharmacists attended the two day sessions. Other officers include Arthur Main as vice president Jennings Murphy secretary Douglas Hunt treasurer Roy Woelfer and John Gallagher honorary vice presidents. The convention proposed Edwin Schweger of Green Bay for governor Goodland to appoint to the state board of pharmacy. Will Trukenbrod attended from Monroe.
The United States and Great Britain plan to confront Russia over the Dardanelles, opposing Soviet demands for a voice in military control. Britain may join. Washington supports Turkey while outlining a path for Moscow to seek freer strait rights, backed by Byrnes.
Secretary of State Dean Acheson said the United States has sent a sharp note to Poland protesting oppression that hinders normal democratic activity. The decontrol board must decide by 7 p.m. whether to extend or lift ceilings on meats dairy grains cottonseed soybeans and related foods. Congress set rules by midnight tonight with three options: continue no ceilings, impose ceilings, or stay silent forcing OPA ceilings. The agriculture department must approve any OPA ceilings.
A Yugoslav spokesman said their pilots did nothing wrong after a U S transport plane was shot down near the Austrian border, with eyewitnesses noting a spiral descent and two parachutes. The incident follows another C 47 forced down nearby and adds to a tense near war situation between American and Yugoslav forces in the Trieste area.
Undersecretary of State Acheson blasted a Yugoslav assault on a U S transport as an outrageous performance. The United States issued a third strong protest in two days, demanding better cooperation and access for consular officers.
Johnny Craft, one of three brothers sought in a Smith County ambush and shootings that wounded four whites, surrendered to officers in Jackson. He walked from Smith County to the Hinds County jail, was unarmed, wore U S marine fatigue clothes, and had previously evaded a large posse.
Wisconsin wool production this year reached 2,591,000 pounds, modestly above 1945 and 391,000 pounds below the 1935-44 average, per the crop reporting service. Last year’s output was 2,426,000 pounds, boosted by heavier fleece and about 328,000 sheep shorn.

She was treated at St. Clare hospital and released. Driver Carl Von Arx said loss of control on loose gravel caused the crash. Passengers Max Huffman and Nathan Mauerman were unhurt.
Green County records show 14 servicemen voted in the primary. Of these, 2 voters were from Monroe. all service votes totaled were reported by County Clerk Clarence W. Lengacher to the state.
