Leonard Disch Dies at 64 Former Milwaukee Cheese foreman

Leonard Disch 64 of 2310 18th Ave died last night in Freeport Memorial Hospital after a stay since July 11. A Swiss native who moved to the area in 1924, he worked 15 years as foreman in packaging at The Milwaukee Cheese Co and earlier as a cheesemaker at Flint Winger in Argyle. He married Ma Schneider March 20 1930 in St Johns United Church of Christ. He also belonged to Turnverein of Monroe and Beloit Ski Club and enjoyed skiing. Survived by wife and memories of a son Carl Disch, 26, who vanished May 7 1965 in Antarctica. Funeral plans by St nessy Funeral Home of Monroe.

Emma Becker Dies in Monroe at 77

Emma Becker 77 of 1622 16th St Monroe died about 4 p.m. yesterday of an apparent heart attack at a nephew's home in Janesville while preparing to leave for Minneapolis to visit. John Legreids helped her inside where she died. Daughter of Green County Judge John M Becker she lived in Monroe since childhood and worked with her father in his legal work. She spent six years in Washington as secretary for Rep John M Nelson. She remained active in politics and community welfare. Her family house, remodeled in 1963, stands as one of Monroe’s oldest. She was born in Madison November 8, 1889.
