American B 29s bombed Waegwan and surrounding areas in a 875 ton strike covering about 7 by 3 miles. The blast disrupted North Korean forces across the Naktong river with retreats reported and ground fighting thinning after the raid.
City council approved mayor and city clerk signing a contract with county officials to connect the county home and hospital to the city sewage system. The home trustees will sign, following engineers recommendations. Louis Blanc named to park board to fill unexpired term of Henry Tschudy. Parking rules and sidewalk projects approved along 6th street from 17th to 20th avenues.
A Taipei dispatch reports nationalist China and the Soviet Union plan to rush 150000 Chinese troops and Russian armor to North Korea if UN forces cross Korea’s 38th parallel. The pact, to be presented to Moscow by M Molotov, is published by Wah Kiu Yat Po.
Appleton police recover nearly $2,000 in stolen merchandise from a basement cache. Two farmhands, Robert E. Emrich 22 Hortonville and Duane A. Schneiderwendt 19 New London, are held without charge as investigators continue.
County highway police reported three accidents near Belleville and Monroe. Mrs. Hulda Duerst sustained a fractured rib when her car struck a county road grader. Steelman aim to head off action as unions push for a 40 hour week with wage adjustments. Yardmen at three terminals threaten a five day walkout starting Monday, though total workers involved are about 3,000.

Reporter Hal Boyle describes a Fifth Air Force raid from Waegwan as 98 B 29s unleash ten tons of bombs per plane on a seven by three mile target north of the Waegwan area. The attack leaves a vast smoke pall and paralyzes the enemy while fighters sweep in to hit retreating troops and vehicles.
