The Green County Shrine Club awarded framed certificates on a Monroe benefit night at Twining park bandshell for the City Band Monroe Fire Department Civil Defense Auxiliary Police and Mr and Mrs Allan Barnard. The event drew over 3000 with bands clowns and a Midget League All Star game before a patriotic finale.

Brodhead Men Hurt in Mishap West of Footville
Four Brodhead men were injured in a one car crash six miles west of Footville on County Trunk B. Rusk Urges Senate Backing for Limited Nuclear Test Ban
Secretary of State Dean Rusk urged Senate approval of the U S British Soviet pact to ban all nuclear explosions except underground tests.
