Monroe Man Struck by Lightning During Sunday Storm
William S. Wescott of 712 10th Street was knocked down by lightning while pumping gas at Rufenacht Oil Station 1019 9th Street during a Sunday night storm. The bolt reportedly struck a transformer nearby as it dissipated. Wescott, taken to St. Clare Hospital, was discharged the next day with a tingling finger sensation. Harold Rufenacht assisted at the scene.

Ernest H Schober of Monroe born October 8 1890 died at 11 53 last night at his rural Highway 69 home after a 10 month illness. He was a machinist former shoe repairer and retired Wisconsin Power and Light employee. He bowled for years served as Monroe Bowling Association secretary helped organize Little League Baseball and sang in minstrel shows with the Beloit Old Timers Baseball Club and Green County Barbershop Chorus.
