A spate of eight crashes on Green County roads yesterday left 13 injured and one injured horse euthanized. Among the hurt were Patsy Flannery and Elmer Davis of Rockford, Ralph Tree of Browntown, John Roddewig of Cedarville, and Richard LeMoine of Rockford. Conditions worsened with rain after a morning of wrecks.

Buses Crash in Texas Killing 18 to 33
Two Greyhound buses collided head on near Waco Texas at dawn. At least 18 dead with counts rising to 28 to 33 as flames consumed the wreckage. Twenty four passengers were hospitalized and five were missing. Survivors recounted a horrific scene as fuel tanks exploded and drivers were killed.

Navy says Mariner fought off two MIG fighters over Yellow Sea

Polio Ward Updates From St. Clare Hospital

Motorist Teaches Wife To Drive Ends With Pool Dip
Newton Massachusetts Thomas Mullen of Watertown taught his wife to drive on Sunday. The car tore through a fence sped up an embankment and plunged into nine feet of water in Horseshoe Pond. The couple swam to shore and rescued their collie from the submerged car. Both were unharmed and the driver’s foot reportedly froze on the accelerator.
