Green County's 91st annual fair opens tomorrow at 9 a m with judging then a 11 o'clock horse pulling contest on the racetrack. Officials expect crowd turnout, many entries, and potential record-setting performances across exhibits.
AP reports the largest B 29 task force ever attacked Japan with about 800 planes dropping 6 000 tons of incendiaries. Targets included Kawasaki Shimonoseki Niigata and Nagaoka on Kyushu and Honshu. The raid began 9 30 p m to 11 30 p m Japanese time with ongoing aerial activity.
The Green County fair opens tomorrow at the fairgrounds as the courthouse shifts operations to the same site. Procter and Gamble used 90,000 pounds of rancid butter to produce 135,000 pounds of soap. Officials said the butter was bought two weeks ago from an industry lot, but they declined to name the supplier. They emphasized the butter was unfit for human consumption.
