Snow Storm Hits Northern Wisconsin Not Unusual Says Deputy
A foot of wet snow fell across northern Wisconsin late Sunday into today from Minnesota, closing side roads in several counties and prompting plows in Douglas Bayfield Ashland and Iron counties. Snow depths reached six to twelve inches with some telecommunication lines down in Ashland. Duluth and Ashland saw skidding incidents. Iron County reported four inches around Purley and Ironwood Michigan as Deputy Sheriff Paul Truchon noted April snow is not unusual in the area.

An attempted burglary at Union Co op service station on Mechanic Street near Oak was foiled Friday night when a resident nearby heard glass break and a passerby alerted authorities. A car fled the scene after the alarm.

Spectacular Crash Reported in County
Two people were injured when a car hit railroad tracks went airborne ninety six feet skidded ninety seven feet and hit a tree near Monticello on Schindler Road. Gail L. Schneider eighteen New Glarus suffered multiple injuries and is in fair condition at St. Clare Hospital. Rick Purcell twenty New Glarus driver sustained head and eye injuries and is in fair condition. The car damaged a fence. Additional accidents occurred near Browntown and Monroe with varied damage and no injuries reported.
