Forensics group shines at state meet from Monroe High
Eight Monroe High School students earned four A ratings and four B ratings at the Wisconsin State Forensics competition in Madison, with A winners to receive gold medals and B winners certificates. The group, including Judy Winzenried and Marlene Cordes achieving A ratings, competed among over 2,600 students and will be honored at Monroe High School May 11.

Ruth Pintar of Monroe and Herbert Kubly of Racine were among 24 state authors honored at the Council for Wisconsin Writers awards in Milwaukee. Winners shared 2525 dollars in eight categories. Two Monroe Women Hospitalized After Sunday Crash
Two 18-year-old Monroe women were hospitalized after a one car crash at 1 18 a m Sunday in the 900 block of 11th Street. Driver Sandra Rowley 18 is in satisfactory condition with multiple contusions and passenger Sharon Handel 18 is in stable condition with a fractured pelvis. The vehicle left the road at high speed, struck a tree broadside, and rescue crews freed the occupants. Police continue investigation and charges are expected.
