Mr and Mrs John Reese were elected co presidents of the South School PTA at an April 21 meeting and potluck in the high school M Room. Dr and Mrs John Caradine were chosen co vice presidents with Mrs Donald Ross secretary and Mrs Walter Wirth treasurer. Retiring officers include Mr and Mrs Paul Ruf co presidents and others. A crowd of over 300 attended. new officers take over at the fall meeting.

Emory Pope of NEW GLARUS says a man posed as a finder for timber and duped him into cutting about 200 oak trees along Root River Parkway in Milwaukee County. Pope paid $4,000 total, with the second $2,000 to be collected for full rights, but the other party failed to appear. County officials note the land is a 25 acre park area protected by the Parks Department. A similar scheme had occurred nearby earlier.

Swiss Visitor Leaves Monroe After Nearly Year Stay
Margaret Renggli of Innertkirchen, Switzerland, who arrived July 14, 1969, is leaving Monroe for New York then home by May 9 for her niece's wedding. She came to care for sister Mrs. Marie Blaser, retired after 25 years in Zurich as a waitress and housekeeper. The Blasers and Renggli shared travels to Dubuque Milwaukee Chicago Madison New Glarus and Wisconsin Dells. She praises Wisconsin farms and roads, misses Monroe's friendliness and Tippy the Blasers' dog, and notes the Blasers home at 2501 12th Ave. has warm floors due to a heated basement.
