Killed in Mishap Eugene Buesser 20 in Dane County crash
Eugene Oswald Buesser of New Glarus was killed when the car he drove lost control on an S-curve near Sunset Road and Fish Hatchery Road. Leonard Marty of Verona survived with chest injuries and is in Madison General Hospital. The victim, born November 18 1944 in Monroe, worked at Maze Produce in Middleton and is survived by his parents two brothers and a sister. Burial plans set at Swiss Church Cemetery New Glarus with Rev Linus Wierwill officiating. calling at Zentner Funeral Home after 9 am tomorrow.

St. Clare Hospital treated about 40 people from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and continued off and on until 9 p.m. Thirteen were hospitalized. Names include Arthur Hoeritz Chesebro's Trailer Court and Miss Muriel Goetz 1711 10th St. Others suffered head, arm, leg and chest injuries with several requiring stitches or transfusions. Tetanus shots given to all with cuts or skin breaks.

Tornado Destroys Farms and Property in Green County
Officials of the Green County Defense Board report a Sunday tornado caused widespread damage in the southwest portion of the county. Buildings barns and trees were destroyed or damaged across Cadiz Township Monroe area with livestock losses and several homes severely impacted. No injuries reported though some residents lost cattle and two sons in one farm incident.

City Policemen Face Full Force of Storm
Two Monroe police officers on routine patrol were struck by a tornado. Karl Jensen’s home at 701 17th St was demolished and his wife injured in the basement. Asst. Chief Dwight C. Coplien, also captain of the Co. B National Guard, suffered minor injuries and helped in double duty after the incident. Both city police cars were damaged, one still in service.

Wisconsin Storm Toll and Destruction Across Counties
A series of tornadoes battered southern Wisconsin on a Sunday, killing three people and injuring many. Trucks were flipped on Interstate 94 near Watertown, and homes and businesses in Monroe suffered severe damage as the storms stretched from Platteville to Lake Michigan. Governor Knowles declared a state of emergency for Jefferson, Rock and Green counties.

Governor Views Tornado Damage Over Monroe
Governor Warren P. Knowles flew over Monroe as a series of tornadoes devastated the area. He praised the limited loss of life and urged aid from the Red Cross and Civil Defense while 89 National Guardsmen guarded the scene. The storm damaged about 50 homes and 30 businesses, with total losses in the millions.
