The Police and Fire Commission urged a new salary schedule to retain officers and curb outside work. Increases target New officers 295 to 330, patrolmen 295 to 350, sergeant 325 to 365, assistant chief 345 to 390, chief 400 to 465. The plan, effective July 1 1959, also seeks overtime reimbursement rights and parking restrictions.

A busload of 35 to 40 oil heating dealers from Chicago will tour Industrial Combustion Inc as part of a pre open house visit. The Chicago Pure Fuel Oil Co arranged the trip with a Swiss Wheel luncheon and dinner. The plant, financed by Monroe Building Corp with a 20 year land contract, opens to the public next Saturday from 2 to 4 30 p.m.

Boys Receive Probation On Joy Ride Charges
Three teenage boys were placed on strict probation and two on probation to their parents in Juvenile Court for stealing cars and taking joy rides last winter. Proceedings were delayed while the juvenile judge welfare worker and parents discussed the case. The youths were divided into pairs and a single boy for orderly processing. They confessed in February to stealing cars and using them for joy rides. One teen would ride in his parents car to pick them up after the stolen vehicles were driven into ditches and snow banks.
Senate backs four year terms for constitutional officers
The Wisconsin Senate passed a resolution to amend the state constitution to grant four year terms to the governor lieutenant governor secretary of state treasurer and attorney general. The measure won 23 to 7 with Sen. Robert Knowles leading the effort. The Senate also killed a plan to abolish the secretary of state and treasurer offices 19 to 10. The Assembly approved six month learner permit validity for the Motor Vehicle Department dropping daylight hour limits and sent the bill to the Senate. A separate vote 84 to 6 supported banning fluoroscopic and X ray shoe fitting machines as proposed. The session closed with plans for a trip Tuesday to the Milwaukee Braves home opener.
