Floods Leave Over Fifteen Hundred Homeless in Dakota
In aDakota flood disaster more than 1,500 people were homeless as rivers overflowed. Sioux Falls bore the brunt with the Big Sioux River flooding an airport and housing project displacing 300 families. Bismarck had 250 homes flooded as the Missouri River hit a 258 foot crest. The flood crest moved downstream and was due to reach Pierre in three days.

A warehouse once the Chilton Implement Co building owned by D. J. Osenga burned completely after a 3 15 p m blaze fed by gusty winds and a nearby dump fire. Exploding gas drums from Ray Wagner’s hardware shop lit debris and toppled power to the town. The Roy Ru residence suffered fire damage and damaged siding along with scorched porch and windows. Sparks sparked small grass and roof fires as embers drifted across Orangeville.

Born December 1872 on the same 400 acre farm he had lived on with tenants. He married Elsbeth Hefty in October 1894 in a triple ceremony. She died in 1941. Voegels funeral home in charge.
