Wisconsin farmers received February prices of 2.77 per hundredweight for milk paid to producers the highest since 1919. Fluid milk averaged 23.15 per hundredweight with cream and butter near 2.83. February output reached 1,107,000 pounds up 3 percent from 1945.
Fred Simpson, Monroe high school assistant coach, will direct Recreation park playground activities this summer per park board announcement. No start date set. the program should begin soon after school ends. Lifeguards have been hired. full roster release is a week away. Simpson is in his second year at Monroe high as American Problems instructor and assistant coach, helped with last year's championship squad, and now leads the high school track team. He is a Platteville Teachers college graduate, married with three children.
With 2921 of 3140 precincts reporting, Justice Ed T. Fairchild of Milwaukee led with 149,770 votes to Circuit Judge Henry P. Hughes 144,412. A statewide referendum on sheriff term limits was defeated 150,002 to 105,291 as 2735 precincts reported.

Washington reports the federal deficit may run about 22 billion dollars for this year and be wiped out in 1946 47. Treasury estimates show tax receipts for the year ending June 30 exceed January forecasts by 2 to 3 billion, aided by rapid demobilization and military cutbacks. Officials deem this a conservative estimate and expect the deficit to be 5 to 6 billion lower than the 28 billion previously projected.
