The Soviet Union proposed an immediate 14 nation peace conference to end the Laos civil war and join Britain in calling for a cease-fire. The note urged belligerents to decide when to stop fighting while agreeing on an early cessation of military actions. Martha Mayer aged 103 died yesterday in Freeport. Funeral services are set for 1 30 p m Monday at Burke Tubbs funeral home with Rev Melvin W Lang officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. She came from Hessen Germany at 14, lived in the US eight years, then returned to Germany briefly. She married Samuel Mayer in 1882 and they farmed near Krape Park until 1942. Surviving are four daughters and a son, all of Freeport.

Suspect Admits City Burglaries
Frank Gaber Jr. 29 of Madison admitted to Monroe city officers that he burglarized two garages on Feb 23 and took a 1960 car, leaving it in Milwaukee. He arrived by bus in dense fog, was arraigned, waived preliminary hearing, and bound over to County Court with $2000 bond on each burglary charge.

Mother Daughter Injured in One Car Mishap in County
Mrs. Marian Flannery 48 and her daughter Leona 20 of ToULi were injured in a one car crash on the Green Lafayette County Line road before 10 a.m. The car hit a tree on a hill crest and both women were pinned beneath it. Both were in satisfactory condition at St. Clare hospital after Wagner ambulance transported them.
