The Monroe City public schools opened with good attendance. Enrollment lists include Grade 1 Evodia Gentry teaching 26 students, Grade 2 Elma Smith 23, Grade 3 and 4 by Lenna Evans with 24 and 14, Grades 5 6 7 8 led by Bracy Cornett Georgia Vaughn and Lillian Delaney, with 24 26 29 and 22 students. The colored school enrollment roughly 35. High School to be led by Ella Geary principal Eunice Wattenburger Caroline Larson and Clinton Farmer who will handle agriculture and manual training. Superintendent E M Sipple praised. high school opens next Monday.

Chautauqua plans push Monroe City 1913 program
The Monroe City Chautauqua committee praised the 1912 program as high class though some preferred more lectures and less music. They report pledged about 600 season tickets for 1913 and urge public support and suggestions. Officers elected include L. M. Wood president and E. M. Sipple vice president, with an active executive committee. A Palmyra county road district petition and a straw stack fire near Ralph Lee are also noted.
