Edward Holmes Redd dies of typhoid fever at Mt Vernon
Edward Holmes known as Redd after a three week illness died last Thursday night. Funeral services were led by Rev. H H Johnson at Mt Vernon where his remains were interred in the churchyard. He left a wife and two children. He was raised by James Redd who named him Redd. Mrs Mary Haffner of Hannibal visited her brother Judge Geo L Hardy and sister Mrs BE Lewellen.

Tragic Self-Destruction Near Cairo Mo
Edward Shipp a man raised near Clapper died by his own hand near Cairo Missouri on October 22. He shot himself with a pistol because his marriage to Missire Allen faced opposition from both families and his father warned he would be disinherited if the match occurred.
