The city bonded 415000 for a modern power plant with a one unit 90 hp enclosed engine and 60 kW generator under one roof. It features a high capacity boiler system, 8x10 floor space, verdi d switchboard, ample water sources, and a reinforced granite construction praised for solid, vibration free operation.
A pretty wedding and elaborate supper were held at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Baldwin in Warren at 7 p m yesterday. The couple were Miss Carrie Baldwin and Richard T Glenn with Rev A Long of Ottumwa Iowa performing the ceremony. The newlyweds are popular young people and deserve happiness.

Monroe District Court 467 mourns Jes Bro. RK. L Woodson, a respected member, and adopts resolutions of sympathy, records them, and drapes the charter for thirty days.
W R P Jackson as executor of Dr J J Norton deceased will sell at public sale at the late residence of the deceased his personal property at 2 o clock p m Saturday November 15.
City Council met in regu lar session Friday Nov 7 1908 at the council rooms with Mayor Boulware presiding. Minutes read and approved. The Mounce complaint referred to a committee. Claims listed mainly to cover the new electric light plant. Police and street fund expenses noted. Bill 38 passed third reading and was lost. contract signing for Burlington switch would risk city liability. Council adjourned on motion of Dr Rutledge.
Sad news reached here Saturday that Everett Gillispie was thrown from a horse at Stuttgart Arkansas and sustained a fractured skull from which he could not recover. His home was Palmyra, and he had many relatives and friends in this city. Later, news of his death arrived Sunday evening.
Reid Nolen sustained a hand injury from horse play with glass last week, leading to a sling use for several days as he recovered.
