Judge Bell Celebrates Eightieth Birthday at Home

Judge James W. Bell marked eighty years with a family reunion and dinner at his city home. Brothers Drs. Leo T. and John H. Bell and sisters Mrs. Samuel Christian and Mrs. Eliza Mason joined relatives including daughters Mrs. J. H. Elliott and Miss May and Fannie. A rocker was presented. Paul Adams hosted a large dinner party with guests from Hannibal Indian Creek Balls County and local families.

Skinned Hand At Stock Yards

William Jackson sustained a severe back of hand skinning injury while unloading hogs at the stock yards yesterday morning. Dr. Turner treated the wound. John Williams and his wife arrived from Arapahoe Nebraska on Tuesday.

Churches Pray for Pitcher Clyde Wilson of Macon

Clyde Wilson a 25 year old pitcher for Macon Athletics died at James H Scratchfields residence after six days illness. He was sick during the Moberly game on June 12 which Macon won 6 to 0. Tonsillitis developed into acute pneumonia and he died with a brother and two sisters at his bedside. His mother is deceased. Wilson lived about twenty miles east of Hannibal in Illinois. Special prayers were offered by all churches last night.

Centre Depot Burns After Lightning Storm

The Centre depot in Ralls county burned Sunday afternoon after a storm. Lightning followed a telegraph wire to the station, igniting the building and destroying all papers inside. A gale and heavy rain persisted for hours, hindering salvage efforts. Nearby Mrs Ada Eakle visited her mother Mrs M B Carson in Quincy.

Missouri Press Association Cape Girardeau Meeting

About 300 Missouri editors traveled aboard the Cape Girardeau from St Louis to Cape Girardeau for a successful 1910 convention visit. The group toured swamp country, enjoyed Kennett frog legs, and praised Frisco travel. Officers were elected with J R Lowell as president and the next meeting set for Joplin.
