Holy Rosary School Commencement and Local News
Commencement exercises at Holy Rosary School concluded last Thursday evening at the opera house. George Balzer, a German-born Civil War veteran and Quincy resident, died May 28, 1914, aged 71. He leaves a widow, four daughters, and many friends. burial followed with Odd Fellows rites in St Jude cemetery. A Rural Carriers association formed among Monroe, Marion, Ralls, and Shelby counties to share service insights and improve patron experience. City Marshal Hayden reported an arrest in Fredericktown, as Clarence Amfleet fled a Baldwin plumbing shop. Amfleet is wanted for burning a hotel.
