Mrs. Martha Swearengen died of pneumonia at her son Carter F Swearengen’s home 808 Union Street South Side at 10 20 PM Wednesday aged 56 Her death followed two weeks illness and shocked her family She was a Christian and respected member of the community surviving four children B P Swearengen M T Swearengen Cartier F Swearingen and Miss Minnie Swearengen of Hannibal The body will go to Monroe City for the noon train today for funeral and burial per the Hannibal Journal December 27 1907.
Evodia Gentry born Bardstown Kentucky 1826 moved with parents to Missouri around 1880 married Christy Gentry Jr and had eleven children. She joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in 1855 lived a devout Christian life, widow since 1867, died December 24 1907 at Monroe City with funeral at home and addresses by Dr L W Read and Rev B F P Hixson.

A Monday night ball at the opera house hosted by the younger society set impressed guests with fine floor conditions and music by the Quincy Empire Theatre Orchestra. Twenty five couples enjoyed the event with friends. an accident briefly interrupted dancing when Clarence McNutt slipped and struck the floor, causing a blond to gush from his mouth and nose before he readily went home. Victor Reid and Mrs Dixie Dean of Shebina and Mosses Loretta and Eva Shibburg of Clarence attended with friends.
A large Supter family reunion gathered in the city on Sunday with many descendants and spouses present. Attendees from Bushnell New Jersey included J H Spiker and family, J F Spiter and wife, R V McDonald and two children, plus J Roy Spiker and Aurilla Spiker. In the host J E Spiker and spouse, the day centered on memories of childhood pranks and days gone by, a truly joyful family gathering.
Jason Barnett died at his home near Warren on Monday night. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E McNair at 11am yesterday, and the remains were laid to rest in the Kincaid graveyard. He was deeply respected in the neighborhood.
