The Bank of Monroe City will be closed on holidays this year including February 22 May July 4 September 4 October 12 and November 30 and December 25. Farmers and Merchants Bank Monroe City Bank The Citizens Bank will also observe these closings.
The Home-Economic meeting of the Century Club met with Miss Marguerite Reid Tuesday afternoon. Guests enjoyed a dainty five course luncheon set in a Valentine decorated dining room. Miss Cleo Patton led a talk on Eliminating Non Essentials, assisted by Mesdames Boucher Thompson Buell Schneer and Longmire.
Miss Edna Swearingen hosted last Wednesday for her Sunday school class with business, then refreshments. Miss Maude Scott entertained at her sister Mrs Walter's home in Ader, a delightful time was prepared. The class led by Miss Etta Hotkin has about two dozen members and attends well.
The Baptist Church received a new organ destined as a memorial to Mrs Jas S Scott. It was purchased from George Kilgen & Son of St. Louis for 2275 dollars and will likely take a week to install.
The Rural Corners will not run next Tuesday for Washington's birthday and Sunday hours will be observed at the Post Office.
The Italian aza Antala Bozuor will be honored by Holy Rosary School Alumni at Pikes Hall on Tuesday February 22. Doors open at 2 PM for a pleasant afternoon with George and Martha Washington hosting guests, guided tours to booths featuring fancy work fishing pond refreshments candy fruit cart. An orchestra provides music and a dance ends the program.
