Obituary: Stephen Seward Dies in Missouri River Region
Stephen Seward died of pneumonia at his home three miles southwest of the city on Wednesday March 26. Born April 11, 1847 in Hardin County, he moved to Missouri as a child, married Annie Buckman in 1878, and raised eight sons and six daughters. He was a devout Catholic, converted 26 years ago, and his funeral with High Mass at St. Stephen’s Church in Indian Creek drew a large crowd. He is survived by a widow and children in Weldon, Martin, Canada, Nebraska, and near the city.
