Kansas City reports Chief Leavy of Omaha via telegraph asks Wyandotte County to hold C. E. Neal of Guads on murder charges for Palmer Jones and his wife. Ottawa rumor mentions Weldon extradition bill to be proclaimed. Brainerd reports J. Bulmer wed Lillie Dean then died suddenly of heart failure.
President Harrison attends the dedication of the Carnegie free library in Allegheny. Andrew Carnegie presents the key to Mayor Pearson as Harrison lauds Read and think, wealth stewardship, and public use. The building costs $800,000 and Carnegie plans to boost his gift to Pittsburgh to $2,000,000.
Des Moines February 22 The House approved a concurrent resolution to form committees with one Senate and two House members to visit state institutions and report by March 1. A second measure proposed to raise House membership to 99 from 100 to avoid future deadlocks.
