Death of John Coventry a Green county landholder dies in Medora

A Carlinville Democrat correspondent reports the death of John Coventry in Medora. Once a New York native, he settled north of Carrollton and owned about two thousand acres in Green and Macoupin counties. His money, bonds, and certificates of deposit valued up to $100000 were scattered, with $40000 in U.S. bonds. He left two brothers in Igwa and New Orleans to manage his estate. He had lived in poverty in Summerville, relying on a single room for years.
