Will Start a Dairy in Oregon Ranch
R F Wigelsworth of near Heppner Oregon engaged State Dairy and Food Commissioner J W Bailey to help select a carload of dairy cows to start a dairy on his home ranch. Thirteen came from Dan Bloor near Jefferson and the rest from near Portland with a Jersey bull from Cas Cleveland in Gresham. The herd cost just over 1600 dollars and Wigelsworth, a large sheep breeder with about 3000 head, plans to offset grazing losses by diversifying his operations.
