Portland flax industry expansion and fair commission actions

The 1915 Fair Commission met in Portland to plan exhibits for the Panama Pacific Exposition with emphasis on county displays, moving pictures, and Oregon products. State Normal School Opens as Faculty Arrives

The state normal school prepares for opening next Monday September 15. The president reports readiness with repairs renovations and dining room ready. Faculty arrivals include Ostien Butler Brenton Todd Dunsmore, with first faculty meeting set for Saturday. Dormitories nearly full and students arriving. Several staff travel notes and campus projects are mentioned.

Dallas Council Proposes Modern Septic Tank System

At a special Dallas council meeting D White from the state health board outlined a plan to build two modern septic tanks at the sewer outlet to sanitize Dallas drainage. The project would cost not to exceed 2800 dollars and include back and forth flow between tanks before gravel beds for final filtration. The council expects action next spring and backs residents along LaCreole creek seeking relief.

City Council in Session Votes to Form Monmouth Separate Road District

City council met Tuesday with all members present except J. W. White and Marshal Sturkin. They audited claims against the city and approved payment, introduced a bill to create Monmouth as a Separate road district, and ordered it read a third time. The marshal was instructed to clear weeds from principal street corners and a resolution to improve Main, Clay and Ecols streets was approved. Regular session set for September 23. Nearby Golden Dale reports a North Yakima deer hunting party traveling through town with three cars carrying firearms and camping gear planning a 1000 mile trip back to North Yakima. Members listed include W. W. Robertson and son, W. L. Lemon, J. H. Harold, Henry Nole, and Fred Chandler.

Monmouth High School Plans Teacher Meetings and Early Registration

Monmouth High School will host afternoon sessions Friday and Saturday to meet pupils and collect textbook lists. All pupils should register Monday. those unable to attend regular hours should come the first morning. Registration is crucial as the new course of study and texts begin this year.
