Local and Personal Notes Reach Monmouth Area
J C McClaire and Douglas Pierson visited in town while Miss Opal Boothby traveled from Dallas. Mrs Brewster's Home Bakery began operation, and Dr Crowley rode the 1 30 motor to Independence. Local business, education, and social events fill the week with weddings, concerts, and a new brick project underway after a fire.
Old Monmouth dwelling yields historic paper find
While rebuilding the Bogert dwelling in Monmouth a crew uncovered an 1860 Oregon City Argus fragment inside wall wallpaper. Elsewhere, Nellie Olden received four White Wyandotte roosters from C L Hawley of McCoy. A deer on the Dallas rifle range startled local shooters, who fired over it from 1000 yards.
