Oregon Industry League forms toboost state goods and fairs
In Portland a new Oregon Industry League aims to expand use of Oregon made goods and back local institutions. L. Samuel is elected president as the league plans publications and statewide lectures with delegates from twenty one civic groups. It will also stage an Oregon outdoor life exhibit at the Panama-Pacific Exposition costing about 10000 dollars featuring a 200 mile Columbia River replica and a 7000 square foot horticulture and food products space. A Salem Cherry Fair highlight is an electric parade with floats and a street dance led by local royalty.

The Oregon Normal School opens its summer session with 253 students and closes the first week at 415, an increase of 125 from last year. Officials expect total enrollment near 450, but warn room shortages in Monmouth. sixteen rural supervisors will attend.

Miss Ellen Conkey wed Floyd L. Rice of Dallas last Tuesday at 9 30 pm in Dallas officiated by Rev Geo H Bennett. The couple will live in Dallas where Rice works at the post office. A quiet ceremony in this city Wednesday joined Miss Laura Conkey and Richard Webster of Dallas with Rev Fisher officiating. The newlyweds left for Newport and will reside in Dallas where Webster runs the confectionery store. On Monday Elwin Conkey and Pearl Hayes were married at the bride’s home with Rev Geo H Mitchell officiating, the couple’s home to be in Monmouth and Dallas respectively.

City Council In Session Setstle Water and Sidewalk Plans
The City Council, all members present, approved minutes and ordered payments for water fund claims including J. F. Moreland and D. E. Stitt. A resolution to widen sidewalk work was laid over to June 30. The recorder was instructed to arrange a meeting with Oregon Power Co. on June 30 to discuss city interests.

Barn and 14 Horses Destroyed by Fire
A Dry Creek barn owned by Bert Boylan burned Monday night killing 14 horses, plus hay and machinery. Loss estimated between 4000 and 5000 dollars with no insurance. Origin unknown but suspected to be caused by passing tramps near the O W R N Railroad.
