Commencement Scenes at Oregon Normal School Mark Graduation
The Oregon Normal School held a patriotic commencement week featuring the Junior Prom, Baccalaureate service, and campus drills. Alumni events and a Senior Play filled Monday. Commencement on June 13 awarded diplomas to 200 students with Prof Norman F. Coleman delivering the keynote on education and character.

Big price for wool in Oregon sale sets regional record
Riddell and Sons sold a two year wool clip weighing 12 000 pounds for 60.125 cents per pound, likely a regional record in Oregon. Mohair totaling 3000 pounds, partly from the Riddells and bought by Oregon Milling and Warehouse Co, sold for 70 cents a pound. Allen Clark handled the deal.

Street Sweeper Opens Monmouth Main For Paving Prep
A street sweeper from Independence arrived on Main Street in Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon. It raised large dust clouds but cleaned the street well. After washing, the street will receive an upper paving coat with minimal disruption to through traffic and only brief interruptions at intersections.

City Plans Sidewalk Construction and Bid Advertisement
The city expects to begin sidewalk work soon as the street committee is authorized to advertise for bids on unbuilt walks. A Dallas man requests marshal access to certain streets for ingress to his Polk County Land Company lots. Band stand painting at Main and Warren jet corner finished. city pays one third of costs plus $10 allowance.

Sudden Death of an Old Resident Mrs M M Jones
Mrs M M Jones a Monmouth resident for twenty years died suddenly Sunday morning after feeding chickens. Born Feb 22 1847 in Mercer county Illinois she married M M Jones in 1883 and came to Oregon in 1898 settling near Salem then Monmouth. She attended the Christian church and is survived by her husband five brothers in Oklahoma California and a stepson M W Jones.
