Monument Unveiled for H. D. Whitman by Woodmen

A Stone monument at the Whitman grave was unveiled last Sunday by Camp No 49 Woodmen of the World. Whitman long served Monmouth Camp as Council Commander and led a highly prize winning degree team. He supported Woodcraft and his memory is honored in death. Mr and Mrs C H Grvin attend the Rose Festival in Portland this week.

Polk County Rural Carriers Convene in Monmouth Meeting

Polk County Rural Mail Carriers met in Monmouth on May Sth for their annual session to discuss rural delivery service and advocate for better roads and higher salaries. Officers were elected led by President A Parker and Vice President Guy Metcalf, with members from Independence to Monmouth and visiting officials from Corvallis Albany and McMinnville.

A miscellaneous shower was given at Ruth Wood's home on Wednesday evening in honor of her upcoming marriage.
