The Normal school observed Washingtons birthday with a portrait presentation to the student body and faculty. Mr Butler presented a Gilbert Stuart reproduction, accepted by President Ackerman who said it would hang with the service flag as inspiration. Miss Parrott spoke on Stuarts life and unfinished portrait. Judge Belt of Dallas gave a brief but vigorous oration on Americanism and citizen admission. Toases honored Washingtons career with girls proposing toasts at banquet board.

Returning Dallas Soldiers Arrive by Transports to New York
Reports say many soldiers from Company L arrived by transports unloading at New York this week. Captain Staffrin and other Dallas men were among them, with Clarence Elkins as the sole Monmouth recruit. They will soon proceed to Camp Lewis for their discharge processing.
