Miss Ida Tarbell, famed lecturer and journalist, will speak at eight o’clock in the Normal chapel on Monday February 26. Tickets cost 50 cents and are on sale at Morlan’s book store. The talk is likely on The Development of Lincoln or The Fear of Efficiency.

On February 21 1867 Joseph A Craven and Miss Priscilla R Meyer united in marriage near Dix ie Judge Fulkerson officiated and was the bride’s step grandfather They settled on the Craven homestead southeast of Monmouth Their golden anniversary celebration was held at their city home with sons J Riley Craven Dallas W B Craven Independence A H Craven Monmouth and daughter Mrs Lora A Butler Monmouth plus extended family Three grandchildren were present An impromptu charivari by Dr Bowersox and Walter Brown and Mrs Maurice Butler sang solos gifts were exchanged with best wishes for many more anniversaries.

Davis Former Monmouth Resident Buried in K P Cemetery
Harry L. Davis formerly of Monmouth died February 15 after an illness of grip and meningitis at his parents home in Eugene. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Davis and is survived by his parents two brothers and other relatives. Rev. F L Fisher officiated at the burial beside his grandmother. An uncle and two aunts attended the funeral and he was a nephew of Walter Scott of the city.

Priscilla Club Hosts Washington Birthday Event
Mrs Cattron entertained the Priscilla club on a Washingtons birthday program last Saturday afternoon. Members shared readings and quotations after visiting Mount Vernon and Washingtons tomb. The room was decorated with flags and miniature hatchets. Delicious refreshments concluded an enjoyable afternoon.
