A gymnasium curtain revealed a built in valentine with a gentleman and lady in colonial dress. Miss Beth Rogers performed a valentine solo before Miss Marguerite Loretz and Miss Myrtle Mortensen danced a minuet and rejoined the display as the curtain fell.

Here After Jerseys Joe D. Tomison of Hood River Glacier S J Frank and Mr Loge of Hood River visited Tuesday. They reviewed herds on the Loughary McKee and Iliff farms and other breeders in nearby counties but did not find enough stock for a carload. They may return for the Loughary McKee auction later this year with Dr Miller of Oregon Agricultural College and Mr C Jameson of the College extension division accompanying them.

Busy Week for the Grim Reaper in Monmouth
Mrs. Louvisa A. Kelsay, 86, longtime Monmouth resident, died at home February 9 after a prolonged illness. Born May 20, 1859 in Fond du Lac County Wisconsin she moved to Oregon about 30 years ago, married Thomas F. Kelsay in Grant's Pass in 1900 and settled in Monmouth. Survived by three sisters and a brother and a Christian church member burial in Monmouth Cemetery after funeral at the Christian church two thirty Monday afternoon officiated by Rev. H C Shropshire.

Monella Georgia Smith Dies. Funeral Held in Monmouth Area
Monella Georgia Smith longtime Monmouth resident died at her home on Monmouth avenue last Sunday at 1 10 p m after illness. Funeral services were conducted at the family residence Tuesday at 12 30 p m with burial in Etna cemetery near Crowley Station. Rev H C Dunsmore of Independence officiated. born Caldwell county Missouri July 21 1861 she was a daughter of Conrad Smith. The family moved to Oregon settling near Crowley and she had lived in and near Monmouth for thirty years. Surviving sisters are Cora and Loretta Smith.

Albert Bushnell Hart of Harvard lectured at the Normal last Thursday evening on American delusions of equality. State Marketing Agent Visits Grange Session
A number of visitors attended the Grange meeting on Saturday afternoon. Dallas Commercial Club secretary Mr. Campbell spoke on fostering friendly county relations and local townspeople aiding farmers. State marketing agent C. B. Spence addressed producer and consumer gaps. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hart of Dallas attended. The session's program was largely patriotic honoring Washington and Lincoln.

Morlan party visits Masonic Home Forest Grove
Mr and Mrs H W Morlan with Harvey Dickenson C D Calbreath and Mr Short of Independence accompanied J W Alexander of Independence to the Masonic home at Forest Grove last Sunday. The last named becomes an inmate of the home and will spend his last days there. The new home recently completed is already too small to take care of the cases which ask for attention. A new wing is to be opened up this summer and work then will start on another wing. There are about sixty in the home at present.
