First Concert in New Chapel Amazes Monmouth Audience
The Music Department under Miss Mary Hoham presented a two part concert February 6 featuring Training and Normal School orchestras, the Glee Club, and vocalist Mrs. Jane Burns Albert of Portland. Pro club choruses and solos by Mrs. Albert highlighted a refined performance of King Rene's Daughter. Attendees included Cornelia Marvin and the Churchill duo from Salem, with building committee members Starkweather and Starr visiting. Thrift Day was observed with Ira C. Powell speaking on saving and war stamps.

The chapel exercises honored enlisted students with a service flag presented by President Ackerman to student body president Miss Helen Strauser. Fathers and mothers of stars attended as the list honors Normal soldiers. A senior won the annual oratorical contest with May Lund and W. E. Buell in second and third place. The High School plans a National Week of Song concert on February 19 at 8 PM led by Miss Lyrel Morris. program details to follow.

Educational Democracy Event at High School Address
The Parent Teacher Association hosted a patriotic program in the high school auditorium led by Prof Gentle who urged practical democratic goals in public schooling and praised the school’s results.
