Monmouth Water Board sets 1916 superintendent and readings
The Water Board of Monmouth held its first regular session of 1916 on February 1 at 7 30 P M with Mayor J L Murdock and councilmen present. Ordinances 168 and 179 were read and discussed. D M Hampton moved to appoint J F Moreland superintendent of the water system for the year. the motion carried. The recorder's monthly financial report was examined and approved. The meeting adjourned with notes on schools and local officials in Polk County.

Monmouth High fell 35 to 15 to Roseburg Friday night in the local gym. Saturday the team lost 28 to 20 to a McMinnville quintet in a close contest. No games are set this week as the Monmouth Athletic Club seeks a Saturday matchup, home or away.
