The 1918 junior class held a multi part event beginning with a chapel procession wearing purple and white caps and a class banner. Activities included a railway scene about buying tickets to Oregon, a See Oregon First show, and a garden of performances under Mount Hood with songs, dances, photographs, and a cherry festival.
A review lauds the forthcoming cinema adaptation of Helen Hunt Jackson's Ramona as a clean lifelike California history piece. Director Donald Crisp avoids sensationalism with two brief action scenes amid authentic on location scenery from Monterey to San Diego. The film screens at the Normal Chapel in Monmouth on Friday April 13 with Miss Parrott vacationing in Roseburg.
Parents and teachers moved fast to install a seven foot duplicate of St Gauden's Lincoln statue at the training school entrance. The $85 cost, after a $74 treasury and a 50 cent gift drive, was covered, with a program of student numbers and a debate on co education.

Samuel Patten Wattenburg died at his Monmouth home at 9 30 Monday after long illness and a fall injury from a mirror. Funeral services were held at the Christian church with Rev F M Fisher in charge. He was born January 22 1845 in Sullivan County Missouri and married Mary Scott May 8 1877 near Eugene Oregon. Survived by wife six sons four daughters four brothers and several grandchildren. Burial followed at the K P cemetery.
The social hygiene meetings held in the city last Friday afternoon and evening drew large crowds. Dr. Emma Wickstrom of Portland addressed the women on the psychology of sex perversion, with about 70 attendees. Dr. Matthis covered medical aspects of venereal diseases, while A F Flegel of the Oregon Social Hygiene Society spoke on causes and remedies, criticizing the double standard and noting venereal disease as highly destructive.
A civic pageant in Monmouth capped Patriotic Week with a noon procession at the Normal. About 700 pupils from training school, high school, and Normal formed the line with flags of varying sizes, marching to a bandstand for songs and a patriotic speech by President Ackerman urging loyalty and national unity.
L. P. Gilmore urges planting gardens this spring to boost food production during national stress. Monmouth, Oregon, offers vacant lots for residents to grow potatoes corn or cabbage and improve town appearance.
The Norm presents a film slate with Audrey a 12 reel show on April 7 followed by Light That Failed on April 10 Luke Comedy on April 12 The Heart of Paula on April 18 Ramona on April 14 and Anita King in The Race.
