Homecoming Bonfire Kicks Off Weekend
Homecoming events begin with dismissal at 2 PM and the bonfire at 7 PM east of Pearson Park. Students collect burnable scrap lumber during Monahans’ annual cleanup, with a 10:30 AM Friday assembly and a 3:20 PM pep rally featuring recognition of classes 1977 and 1967. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned before the Lobos vs Brownfield Cubs game.

Fiesta Termed Success as MAM Reports Christmas Fiesta
The Merchant's Association of Monahans heard the Mexican Independence Celebration was a success. Committee Chairman Fermin Vasquez noted visitors from El Paso and New Mexico and anticipated a larger event next year with volunteers. Awards went to Wackers and Benhams for Best Decorated Float. Carol Carrasco was named Little Miss Fiesta. Delvia Gonzales crowned Queen of Diez y Seis at the dance. Plans for a Thanksgiving Promotion were made for November 21–23 with stores open usual hours, and the annual Christmas parade was scheduled for December 1 featuring Santa Claus and Miss Merry Christmas.
