Windfall Profit Tax debated by oil industry analyst
Richard Hoyer, CPA, calls the Windfall Profit Tax a confiscatory scheme with three tiers for old oil, stripper oil, and new oil. He notes rates from 70 to 15 percent with credits for royalty owners and exemptions phased in through 1986, and warns NSWA that the tax dampens stripper well exploration and operation. NSWA HQ sits in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
