Special Easter service sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance will be held at 6 30 a m Sunday April 6 in Monahans Sandhills State Park Rev Henry Haupt pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will deliver the Easter message.
Rehearsals for Around the World in a Daze a musical comedy using 125 local cast members start this afternoon at the Monahans Youth Center. The show sponsored by the Volunteer Fire Department features 36 student choristers seeks more girls, with committees named and a Friday Saturday April 11 12 performance at the High School Auditorium to raise funds for fire department radio equipment.
After UT graduation in January Mr and Mrs Bill Meacham joined Allis-Chalmers Corp in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He is in training while she works in domestic sales at 9130 W Blue Mound Rd Milwaukee.
One mayoral candidate and four candidates for three council seats appear on Grandfalls ballots. Earl Lasiter seeks the unexpired mayor term unopposed. Incumbent W. C. Phillips seeks reelection, Mickey Bell runs, and J. T. McSpadden and Johnny Snelson run for the first time for council.
The Monahans Wickett Independent School District election is set for Saturday April 5 with fifteen or sixteen absentee ballot applications reported by County Clerk Mary Childs. The deadline to vote absentee is 5 p.m. April 1. Five candidates vie for two school board seats: incumbent Ross Rucker, Dr. Paul Kunstadt, Helen Hawkins, C J Middleton, and Bill Solomon.
Monahans voters will choose three City Council members in a race featuring seven candidates including incumbents O G Rudy and Cliff Greenlee and challengers Don Brown Jim Williams Louis Cook Billy D Whitmire and Mrs Lena Brown. Polls open 8 a m to 6 p m at City Hall with voters holding valid poll tax receipts and six months residency.
Tuesday is the deadline for 1958 license tags. Ward County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office stays open until 6 p.m. on Tuesday as lines stretch. Over 3,600 passenger licenses issued this year, already matching last year with total tags over 4,700 and two days left. Officials expect a continued rise in licenses.

A special committee of the Monahans Pony League Association will meet at Cliff's Two Tuesday night at 7 pm to accept bids for baseball equipment for this summer. Local sporting goods concerns are asked to submit bids on 125-S Louisville Slugger bats and PL-172 Spaulding balls.
Lawrence Q. Griffin a Production Foreman in the Wickett area will receive a 40 year service award on April 1. He has served Gulf Oil in Goss Louisiana Pine Island Mooringsport Smackover and Wickett. Clarence R. Frisbie a Production Department employee in the Wickett area will receive a 10 year service award on April 8.
Firemen were summoned to the Don Bragg residence at 404 South Alice Street at 2:45 p.m. Saturday after newspaper insulation around a water pipe caught fire. The blaze was extinguished quickly with no damage reported.
Graveside rites were held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Monahans Cemetery for Gregory Lynn Killian infant son of Mr and Mrs Noel Lynn Killian of Monahans who died hours after birth at Ward Memorial Hospital. Rev L A Pattillo read the rites. Barnes Funeral Home handled arrangements. Maternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs R G Davis. paternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs J E Killian, Monahans.
