Cabbages and Kings by Marian Rodgers
A humorous essay about cabin fever and yard work ends with an absurd elephant stew punchline. The narrator recalls past gardening misadventures, updates costs on tiller and fence, and jokes about feeding the family with elephant meat if the garden fails. The piece mixes personal anecdotes with light satire.
