Judge seeks corrected models to test New Mexico compliance
The court has requested fixes to the old mathematical models to determine if New Mexico complies with the compact. Should the judge rule the Charnes Heaney models become standard, more water could be available for irrigation in West Texas Pecos Valley. Dr Charnes states the new models are firmly grounded in modern statistics and could aid industry. Heaney notes if the Texas suit succeeds, it will help a lot.

Council to hear report on hazardous buildings
The Monahans City Council will hear a report from City Inspector Wesley Barnes on four buildings deemed hazardous to health and safety. The council may order owners to bring structures up to standard or demolish them, with possible $100 daily fines, razing costs charged to the property, and other enforcement steps. The agenda includes a request to drill an oil well at the Hogg Ranch, near the water well field, and bids for waterworks supplies as the city seeks a new well to replace one with silting problems. Forga seeks authorization to hire an engineer to prepare well specifications, and a zone change request is noted.
