Atlantic Shelf Distances and Wildlife Notes
The Atlantic continental shelf runs about 125 miles from Nova Scotia and 300 miles from Newfoundland. Extra-high platform shoes hinder brake and gas pedal control, say driver instructors. Without the Arctic sanctuary, migratory birds would struggle to survive. Lamprey eel remains larval for up to seven years in mud before joining the Great Lakes.
