New jailer trio joins Ward County Jail staff
Bobbie Heard, raised in Albany and West Texas oil fields, becomes deputy jailer at Ward County Jail along with her husband and Joe Collazo who left the Monahans Police Dept to join the county. Heard's career includes Pecos Police Dept dispatching in 1961, time at Lamplighter Inn in Abilene, Paymaster Gin, and Albany Sheriff's Office. Collazo brings recent Monahans Police Dept experience.

Two hurt in US80 two car crash near Gulf Camp
Police report details a two car collision on US80 near Gulf Camp at about 10 55 p m Sunday. Carolyn Stephens 300 South Kansas slowed and pulled off to make a U turn when Dorman Bean of Monahans hit Stephens rear ending her car and pushing it 371 feet. Stephens and a 9 year old boy were taken to Ward Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries. Bean was unhurt and cited for driving while intoxicated.

Southwestern Bell Plans 15.8 Percent Intrastate Rate Increase
Public notice under Texas Public Utility Commission rules states Southwestern Bell intends to implement a new rate schedule in Texas effective July 21, 1981, pending Commission action. The proposed schedule would raise intrastate revenues by about 15.8 percent. A full copy of the new rates is on file with the Public Utility Commission in Austin and with each affected Texas municipality and is available for inspection at the company's public business offices.
