A parade with limited music plans is joined by Barstow Friday night entertainment headlined by the Joe Paul Nichols Show at the Barstow gym with Dale Lay and the Five Pennies. Admission ranges from 1 to 2.50 dollars based on advance purchase. The Ward County Democratic Club meets Monday at 7 30 pm to elect officers, while the Retail Trade Committee gathers Tuesday at 10 am to discuss Moonlight Madness and Crazy Days promotions.

AJRA Rodeo Kicks Off With Parade and Nightly Events

The Ward County Riding and Roping Club hosts the AJRA rodeo starting Wednesday with a parade led by Club Sweetheart Becky Meek and Parade Marshall R. C. Swope. The event runs through Saturday featuring barrels, goat tying, roping, bronc and bull riding, with age divisions and a $100 scholarship for top All-Around winners. Admission is $1 students $2 adults, finale dance Saturday at County Coliseum with Country Boys performing.

WMH Directors Propose New Hospital at Ward Memorial Site

The Ward Memorial Hospital Board of Directors votes to ask HAI to construct a replacement hospital for the tornado-damaged facility. The proposal will go before the Commissioners Court when it convenes on Monday.

Council To Continue Traffic Survey Talks

City Council sets Tuesday 2 pm at City Hall to discuss Traffic Engineering Associates of Austin recommendations to alter city driving patterns. Other agenda items include paving a church lot, bids on pipe fittings, a water well at Hogg Ranch, Lynn Addition street closures for a new Kindergarten, surplus fire truck disposal, an insurance survey, and negotiating with Hospital Affiliates International for a hospital project management contract to expedite a new facility. Administrator Bob Hill was told to arrange physician recruitment survey and a tornado loss meeting between hospital board and adjusters. Ward County to tackle tornado damage at commission meet

Ward County commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. in the County Courtroom to act on tornado related items. They will review recommendations from the Ward Memorial Hospital Board of Managers and consider bids on two livestock barns near the County Coliseum destroyed by the tornado.

Friday Shower Eases Heat With Light Rain

A brief rain shower Friday afternoon cooled the 101 degree heat and added .04 inches of moisture to parched yards and gardens. Southern town homeowners saw no rain, while May’s total of 3.11 inches did not relieve drought as much as hoped due to rapid runoff.

Registration Deadline Near For Beef Producers Vote

The Ward Winkler ASCS office Still registers beef producers to vote on a Beef Research and Information Order. Friday June 17 is the last day to register to vote in the July referendum. Production entities receive one vote each and a final list of registrants will be posted June 22.

Permian Basin Health Systems Agency to hold second hearing

The Permian Basin Health Systems Agency schedules a public hearing on July 7 at 2 00 p m in the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission offices to discuss reorganizing 21 health concerns and pr ogram direction. Jury Awards Settlement of $100000 in Johnson suit

A 143rd District jury awarded $100000 to Mrs. Vanda Johnson and her three minor children for the death of Aaron Glen Johnson in a May 1974 industrial accident. The suit named Union of Texas Petroleum Corporation and Haliburton Company, with Johnson employed by A.W. Thompson Drilling. The alleged defective Chickson joint caused the fatal strike northwest of Pyote. Attorneys included Russ Adders and Tyron Lewis for plaintiffs and Shaffer Gilliand Davis Bunton for defendants. Judge Larry Fuller presided.
