Odessa Woman Wins Tobacco Contest Colt For A Dollar Twenty Five
Odessa housewife Mrs. F. R. Herzberg won a thoroughbred colt in a national tobacco company sweepstakes after entering 33 times with $2.25 in stamps. The prize includes a bay colt by Tompion out of Miss Kleinie, $1000 for Derby expenses, four days in Louisville and two finish line boxes, plus training and eventual stud life. The contest drew skepticism but Herzberg calls it legitimate as she watched Dancers Image’s Derby outcome. The colt will train at Ruidoso Downs under trainer W. D. Stubby Stockton and stay in Kentucky until July 1 before moving to Oklahoma for eventual stud duties.
