Gulf Oil introduces Rig No. 2 in Ward County as a national built training rig for Gulf employees. It aims to train drilling foremen and engineers via field exposure in a mobile air conditioned setup, with the rig about halfway to 8200 feet and a second well planned for 13,000 feet.
Ward County Senior 4-H club members prepare for the State 4-H Round Up in College Station from June 7 to 9. Participants include Betty Brown in Family Life Education, Wesley Moore in Natural Resources, Pam Hudson and Bret Stuckey in Open Class, and Carol in Farm and Ranch Management.
County receives 519 from the Comptroller for voter registration certificates issued or canceled between February 1, 1976 and January 31, 1977. Each county earns 0.40 per certificate, with Reeves Pecos and Winkler also receiving payments. Funds support tax office expenses.
Summer classes begin Monday at Monahans High School with all students meeting in the auditorium at 9 00 am. Offerings include makeup English and biology for one quarter, a seniors only original credit government course, and a potential health course if enough interest. Classes run about five weeks with progress charts in the drilling dog house and new training rig piloted by Gulf may influence industry.

Officers of the Community Advisory Council of the West Texas Children's Home were elected at Tuesday's night meeting. Wayne Pinkston will serve the first quarter followed by Bud Rush Rev Glenneth Harrington and Joe Hull. Mrs. Bill Murphree is secretary treasurer. Meetings are set for the third Tuesday each month in the First National Bank Community Room.
Texas beef taskforce operates toll free line to answer cattle producers questions about the referendum. Ward County chairman Bill Thornton notes registration from June 6 to 17 and voting July 5 to 15.
