Monahans merchants met at Cliff's One for Krazy Daze planning ahead of the August 4 and 5 event. Chamber manager R T Wilson hailed the turnout as best since he took over, with many agreeing to recruit nonparticipants. Prizes include radio, gift certificates, and gift cards as plans include ads, window painting, and sidewalk tables.

10 Scouts Brownies Set Annual Day Camp
More than 70 Monahans girl scouts and Brownies will participate in the annual day camp at Jaycee Park Monday through Friday. Activities include archery outdoor cooking hiking and nature study with instruction from Dugan Longbotham and supervision by camp director Mrs C G Myers. Larry Baldwin 31 begins duties as Monahans utilities director replacing the late Carl Maxwell who died June 9 in a Pyote oil tank battery explosion. Baldwin came from San Angelo where he spent ten years with the water department including five as assistant distribution superintendent. Born in Abilene he attended San Angelo high school and junior college and served in the U S Navy. His wife Mary Louise hails from San Angelo and they have two sons aged two and seven.

Crackdown on Filing Fees by County Commissioners Court
The County Commissioners Court ordered the County Clerk to stop extending credit to firms or individuals 30 days delinquent on filing fees and to require a minimum $25 deposit in all probate cases unless a pauper's oath is filed. It also granted Atlantic Pipeline Company a right of way to lay a gas line under a county road in Section 17, Block 34, H&TC survey, with road restoration to standard specs at the site.

Monahans White Sox Meet Marfa City Champions in Playoff Opener

Monahans Man Injured In Winkler County Smash-Up
Henry C. Dugan of Shisler Trailer Court sustained non fatal injuries after a two vehicle crash on the Monahans Kermit Highway six miles south of Kermit in Winkler County. He was treated at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit. no fatalities occurred. Other incidents this week in Ward County produced minor damage and no injuries in Sealy and Betty streets collision and a U S Highway 80 crash four miles west of Monahans.

Monahans Wickett schools outline immunization choices for new first grade students. Parents can have shots for polio smallpox diphtheria tetanus and whooping cough now or during the first weeks of school with doctors cooperating with the district. Retirement Plan Approved For Monahans City Employees
