Investigation Continues Into Rape Case Here
A 61 year old woman was raped in her North Monahans home early Thursday. Ward County Sheriff and Monahans Police work to identify the assailant described as probably a Negro who forced entry through a window. A ten year old girl in the room was not harmed. the victim is treated at Ward Memorial Hospital and investigators pursue suspects with limited progress.

Compact Car Damaged In Two Vehicle Collision
A two vehicle collision Friday afternoon just after 1 near North Allen and F Street caused heavy damage to a compact car while a pickup remained undamaged. The drivers were 15 year old Linda Barker of 211 East H and 14 year old Ralph Sanchez of 319 East A. No injuries were reported.

Services Held Sunday For Mrs Rosson In Monahans
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Rosson, 87, who died Saturday at Pleasant Haven Rest Home in Monahans, were conducted Sunday at First Christian Church. Survived by husband A. B. Rosson of Monahans, four daughters including Mrs. E. J. Rottenstein of San Antonio and Mrs. Z. L. Butts of Bishop, two Beverly Hills daughters, and three stepsons Sam of Monahans Tom of Big Spring Gene of Coolidge Arizona.

Progress Report On City Park System Improvements
A late week report from Jack Forga to City Manager Don Edmonds outlines progress on the citys four major parks. Duffy Park has been scalped re-seeded and dead trees removed with sprinkler upgrades and new steel grills planned. Pearson Park will follow Duffy Park work with watering system kept as is. Hill Park shows good turf and water, with pool painting and updated shower fixtures planned before next seasons start. Park for colored residents has dirt moved and leveling, with sprinkler layout and rotating pop up heads to come, plus steel grills and picnic tables.

Police report a Thursday night break-in at Earl's Furniture 209 West Sealy. Thieves entered via rear air conditioner duct and obtained a small radio and a money box with about two to two dollars and fifty cents. Police continue investigations.

Monahans 1961 Pony League All Stars were announced after the Oilers E agles game. Members include Mitch Lohmann Wayne McPeak Keith Bailey Fred Chaney James Netzel James Dudley Bill Mitchell Richard Floyd Ronnie Calhoun Russell Eubanks Raymond Ortiz Jimmy Jaquez Jimmy Neidhardt Alvino Mendez Bill Lyles Alternate Johnny Lowe Keith Capehart. They will face Crane Thursday in the first game of a possible three game area playoff with games in Monahans Friday and Saturday if needed. The Sports won the league with 11 5, earning miniature gold trophies and a team trophy. The Swabbers won Sonny Lane sportsmanship trophy. Wayne McPeak was MVP. Best batting average and home run co-champs were Wayne McPeak and Mitch Leimann. Co-champs for best pitching were Keith Bailey and Bill Mitchell at 5 1.
